Because if the mayor changes every 4 years and everyone has his own ideas, the community finally becomes a circus that never stops, everyone makes an even bigger mess with his ideas. That is why I have argued for an “independent” body to draw up a long-term strategy for the municipality (50 years), in which the voters then try to choose the one who can best contribute to the implementation of the strategy.
This is a higher level of thinking and living culture, but if we do not move in this direction, the municipalities will start to close down and hamlets will reappear as they were during another political regime. Of course, the mayors have the greatest role to play, and in addition to various citizens’ initiatives, they must also do so. So they have to decide on the role of the mayor on the basis of some higher aims than personal interests; only then can they do so.
